7 MembersNative American Inter-Tribal Cultural Awareness Society (Native American Cultural Awareness Society)
We seek to promote an understanding and appreciation of Native First Nation Peoples and their cultures, as well as providing a support organization for all WCU Native students/families. "N.A.T.C.A.S.'s” strives to promote and educate under represented populations to the advantages and importance of diversity in our world today through the celebration of Native cultures.
We as a People strive to -Teach, Learn and Share. For those of Native descent, to work together to provide a place to deal with the world on your terms instead of the other way around. We are an organization open to the community to discuss Native American issues, share Native culture and promote Native American awareness. Everyone is welcome to participate in club meetings and attend events. We further believe that in the Native American culture, the basic family unit is the extended family. Based on the extended family premise, we are established to assist Native American students in adjusting to the college environment and to encourage their pursuit of higher education. The events, activities, and meetings will be efforts to provide an environment of cultural development, spiritual growth and social interaction by developing an extended community of resource people. Essentially, the students and community create a home away from home for our students and families.
