The purposes of the Jewish Student Organization (JSO) are:

•To establish an organization whose mission is to evaluate the quality of the Jewish experience at Western Carolina University and look for ways to improve it.

•To create new opportunities for Jewish students and enable them to become involved in Jewish life on campus.

•To encompass Western Carolina University and the Jewish Student Organization under North Carolina Statewide Hillel!

"Hillel being The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life at numerous colleges and universities to explore and celebrate their Jewish identity through a global network of regional centers, campus Foundations, and Hillel student organizations.

Hillel’s mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students so that they may enrich the Jewish people around the world."
